Ft Caroline Hills Association II March 2021

Ft Caroline Hills Association II Meeting minutes and landscaping proposal details

Sorry for the Zoom issues at our Saturday meeting.  We had a couple things we discussed.

  • We voted and approved the 2021 budget.  We have expected income and previous savings of $40,969 and budgeted expenses of $28,161.  If you would like a details list please email Joan at jssmithey55@aol.com
  • We spoke briefly about the landscaping of the common grounds on the side of Millcrest Dr. but because of the difficulties with zoom we wanted to give the neighborhood more time to look over the information.  You can view all the details on our website at www.fcha2.org. The two proposals we have received are-
    • The Sod Boss for $10,755 which includes 15 loads of fill dirt and 5000 sq feet of Bahia sod with 20,000 sq feet of Bahia Hydroseed
    • Integrity Lawn for $10,715  which includes 8,500 Square feet (planting grass 10 feet from the curb up 10 feet the entire length of the common area) with either Citrablue or Palmetto St. Augustine Grass (This doesn’t include fresh dirt)
    • We have also talked about planting a small area of asiatic jasmine as a test

Please let us know if you have any questions by 3/10 and if you would like to vote on this landscaping project please email Tangee by 3/16 at  hugtan8@bellsouth.net on which option you would prefer.

  • Next Saturday we will have a community work day at the front entrance at 9:00 am if you would like to come and help lay mulch and maybe plant some more flowers.  We would love to have you.
  • We will be starting the Lawn of the Month again in May.

A couple other reminders:

  • Please remember you must pick up your pets waste to keep our neighborhood neat and environmentally safe.
  • Cars need to park in the driveway and not on the street because they are obstructing traffic.
  • Trailers are not allowed to be parked on the front driveway.  All trailers must be out of sight in a garage or behind a fence.
  • If you have a broken trash can the city will come out and fix them for free.  You just need to call the city at 630-2489.

HOA and all residents
Thank you for the opportunity to submit the following quotation. Listed below is the complete scope of work.

Scope of Work

24,750 square feet of fill dirt installation. Grading and correcting the erosion/slope down the embankment using clean fill dirt and sod replacement.

Preparation
• Run all irrigation zones to check for full coverage and that all heads are functioning properly.
• Mark irrigation heads in the areas that will be sodded
• Place cones around all equipment, trucks, sod and any work-related items throughout neighborhood.
• Underground utility lines will be marked prior to work being done.

Proposal

The Sod Boss 904-955-4851

http://www.TheSodBoss.com

Fill Dirt – $4,875
• Deliver 15 loads of fill dirt. Each truck hauls 18 yards of fill dirt.
• Current soil is mostly sand and will have the best results with new clean fill
• Each load is billed at $325 This includes the dirt, delivery, equipment, bobcats and labor.

Sod Installation – $5,880 Bahia installed (recommended)
• Bahia sod will be installed along the street 3 feet wide and along the fence at the top of the slope. This allows the hydroseeding to stay within the area sprayed and not wash away. Install 20,000 square feet of Bahia hydroseed. Hydroseed billed at $0.18 per square food
• All sprinkler heads will be cut out to allow irrigation to run immediately after installation.
• All sod will be rolled, and irrigation set to run per our instructions for the first 30 days following installation.
• Sod installation rate is $0.48 per square foot for Bahia sod. ($0.48 @ 5,000 square feet) $2,280

Total Investment – $10,755

This is with Bahia sod and Bahia hydroseed

As the Owner and Certified Pest Control Operator of Integrity Lawn and Ornamental, I look forward to the opportunity to exceed your expectations. Here is the proposal I said I would e-mail you. This bid is for installation of approximately 8,500 square feet of St. Augustine turf along Millcrest drive. The turf would be installed immediately adjacent to the curbside and 10 feet up the hill. We will use either Citrablue or Palmetto St. Augustine Grass (depending on availability), these are the two most shade tolerant varieties. In order to make as proficient a barrier as possible, we would recommend installing the turf on top, rather than sod cutting it into the hill. We would need to watch the irrigation run and be able to mark the heads prior to installation. The sod will be in the best health and condition upon installation, once installation is complete, it will be up to you to care for it. No warranty is provided and while sod can usually be safely installed year round here, you do run the risk of having a hard freeze before it is fully rooted, this might kill some portion of the new turf. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions at all.

Pricing:

Turf Installation

$10,715

Thank You

Ft Caroline Hills Association II Meeting

Here are the meeting minutes from last meeting:

     HOA Meeting Minutes

Due to COVID-19 and our desire to keep social distancing,
we held a zoom meeting.  If you have concerns or questions,
please feel free to contact us.

  • We have been working on getting quotes for the landscaping of the common area along the fence.  It is a large expense and we will share more information before we make any decisions.
There is also a tree at the front of the neighborhood that needs to be removed.
  • The fence along the front of the neighborhood was burnt by someone from the apartments.  We are working with the apartments to have them replace the damaged area.
  • There are some areas where the grass is growing over the sidewalk and onto the road.  If you need help edging the sidewalk please let us know and we can ask our lawn care company to give you a quote.
  • Trash has been collecting in the commons areas again.

Please make sure all trash and yard debris is disposed

of correctly and not dumped onto common areas.

  • As a reminder: everyone needs to be parking in driveways in order to not obstruct the roads.  It is still a problem.  We also don’t want to be obstructing roads for emergency vehicles.
  • Mike Dunham has offered to look at the electric outlet and clean the front entrance sign.
  • We will be decorating for Christmas soon.  This year we are going to be purchasing a new Santa for our front entry because the other one no longer worked.

  • Joan went over the Treasury Report.  Please notify Joan if anyone would like a copy.
